Associate Professor Gavin Beccaria
Associate Professor Gavin Beccaria is an academic in the School of Psychology and Counselling at the University of Southern Queensland and a practicing clinical psychologist with over 25 years experience. Gavin has extensive supervision and teaching experience with psychology students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and he has provided clinical supervision for hundreds of psychologists and psychologists in training.
Gavin has taught at USQ for 13 years and he was the coordinator of the Clinical Psychology Program from 2014 – 2018. He was successful for an Early Career Teaching Award in 2011.
Gavin has written book chapters on mental health diagnosis and disorders. He has also published in a wide range of topics including metal health, domestic violence, learning and teaching, careers assessment, clinical assessment, natural therapies, and Indigenous mental mealth in leading journals. He has been an Associate Investigator on two NHMRC grants and a Chief investigator in one NHMRC grant part of a research team investigating assessment and treatment of Mental Health in Indigenous Australians.
Prior to moving to Academia in 20017, Gavin was the Director of Psychology in Toowoomba Health Service and managed 35 psychologists. Gavin is married to Dr Lisa Beccaria, a nursing academic at USQ and they have two children. When he is not working he tries to spend as much time with his family as possible.
